Yohji Yamamoto Fall/Winter 2013: An Exercise In Geometry

Monochrome, all black looks, with pleats, drapings and asymmetrical cuts, opened the Yohji Yamamoto Fall/Winter 2013 show, in an excellent geometric exercise. Punctuated by subtle notes of white, the collection then moved on to outfits with ample silhouettes, embellished with fringes, extravagant fur details and lace inserts.

A few pops of colour came in soft, powdered tones, on floor-length pleated dresses, or, conversely, in bold, vibrant shades, on knits. The show’s final looks provided a view of masculine silhouettes reinvented in feminine versions, in the form of three-pieces suits, made up of coats, short pleated skirts and cropped pants with flared legs.
