Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall/Winter 2013: The Punk Aesthetic In An Effortless Manner

The punk aesthetic, the signature element of Vivienne Westwood’s clothes, made its way into the label’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection in a subdued manner, which provided a natural, effortless effect.

The show opened with a set of striped coats accompanied by knee-length striped socks (stripes are another recurring element of Westwood’s collections), setting thus the tone for a collection in which the punk vibe was communicated in a more subdued and sophisticated, yet somehow more powerful and striking manner than the past seasons’ shows.

The label’s classic silhouettes also made their appearance on the runway, in the form of fitted body-con dresses with opulent accessories, slouchy pants with a relaxed fit, tailored blazers and expertly draped looks, along with plaid, floral prints, leather details and ostentatious accents of animal print, metallics and splashes of wildly vibrant colours.
