Video: Chanel Celebrates 100 Years Since The Opening Of The Label’s First Store With A Super Chic Short Film

100 years ago, Coco Chanel was opening her first boutique in Deauville, Normandy, one of the most picturesque regions in the North of France, with the help of her then-partner, Arthur “Boy” Chapel. In just a few short years, her innovative aesthetic, which involved the liberation of women from the stylistic constraints of old fashion, including corsetry, proposing a casual chic style instead, will have gained immense popularity, eventually ending up becoming legendary.

The anniversary of a full century since the opening of the first Chanel store needed if course to be celebrated in the chic-est way possible – thus, Karl Lagerfeld, the man who currently holds the reigns of the Chanel empire, has prepared a special treat – a short film, portraying bits and pieces from the founder’s life, focusing on the year 1913, a key-moment of her career.

Directed by Karl Lagerfeld, the short film, entitled “Once Upon A Time…”, features Keira Knightley, the current image of the iconic Coco Chanel fragrance, as Mmselle Chanel herself, along with actress Clotilde Hesme, models Stella Tennant, Jaime Bochert, Caroline de Maigret, Lady Amanda Harlech, Lagerfeld’s muse, and her daughter, Tallulah, as well as male models Baptiste Giabiconi, Sébastien Jondeau, Jake Davis and Brad Kroenig, along with his son, Hudson, who happens to be Karl’s godson.

Until May 8th, when the short film will be unveiled in Singapore, the city selected by Lagerfeld to host the upcoming 2014 Chanel Cruise collection catwalk show, as well as featured LIVE on, you can enjoy a short teaser right here:
