For the Valentino Couture Fall 2013 show, the fashion house’s designer duo, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, went with the image of an aristocratic type of extravagance.
Sober silhouettes featuring herringbone prints sweetened by golden embroidery, were alternated on the runway with romantic lace dresses featuring panels of transparent veil, creating an effect of refined seductiveness. Cape dresses, silhouettes minutely decorated with metallic appliqués and 3/4 day dresses of timeless elegance, are amongst the show’s most powerful looks. For nighttime, the ample-skirted satin gowns featuring floral motifs definitely make key-pieces that will look as good in your wardrobe in a couple of decades, as they do right now.
