Ultra-Glam Silhouettes In The Balmain Fall/Winter 2013 Show

”I wanted to imagine the seventies in the future—in 3070!”, declared Olivier Rousteing for Vogue reporters in the backstage of his Fall/Winter 2013 show for Balmain. Retro silhouettes were thus adapted into ultra-glam Space Age versions.

Prominent shoulders, a trademark of the French label, were a recurring element within the collection, either on tops, dresses with expertly draped silhouettes, or on jackets paired with comfy harem pants accentuated at the waist with cummerbunds. Innovative fabrics, such as the quilted leather embroided with tiny crystals that created the illusion of tweed, came alongside noble fabrics, such as moiré satin, lamé, or mohair. The metallic irisations with a disco feel, perfectly completed the collection’s glamorous vibe.
