The world’s biggest fashion design schools

Paris, London, Milan and New York are the world’s recognized fashion capitals and, as it probably was only natural, also the main university centres when it comes to fashion and design.

Making the choice between these top fashion destinations isn’t, nevertheless, an easy feat.

In Paris, the offer varies from lectures held by famous teachers and bachelor and graduate studies provided with diplomas in a wide variety of fashion spin offs.

Paris Fashion Institute

The Paris Fashion Institute offers, since 1976, English language seminars on design, marketing, manufacturing, merchandising and retail, with tutors such as Karl Lagerfeld, Yohji Yamamoto or Stella McCartney. Additionally, the Institute provides its students with access to the Parisian fashion high life, including practical studies of the city’s fashion week, as well as visits to the Louvre and Versailles.

In the US, New York has no fewer than three reputes schools, the New York University, Parsons The New School For Design, certified by former students Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs, and the Fashion Institute of Technology having among its alumni Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors.

So, it seems that there are few questions left. Should I study fashion where Stella McCartney is teaching or where she studied herself? is one among them. They have too little importance, though, as graduating from one of these institutions truly is the first step towards becoming a fashion industry name.
