Once upon a time there was the spectacular Burberry Prorsum spring-summer 2014 show. Captured from countless perspectives with the iPhone5s, broadcast live, thanks to a revolutionary technology, on screens in the heart of London, Times Square and Hong Kong. Streaming on FashionAvecPassion.com with Anna Wintour in the first row, Cara Delevingne on the catwalk and George Ezra, Jake Bugg and James Bay energising the electric atmosphere with live music.
And the spectacular, electric show was a fairytale. English lace, rose pink, lavender, mint, raspberry red meeting minimalist shapes and rubber textures. A story where all is old and all is new, where Christopher Bailey was the mastermind behind the quiver of petals on delicate transparent dresses, of the model’s steps on the podium and of the spell cast on spectators around the world.
It is a story that lasted well more than three days and three nights and where we picked and ordered months in advance next spring’s favourite dress – can you guess which? – and petals in all of the forms imagined by Burberry.
And since a true fairytale never ends, I think I’ll just watch it again and again, the no longer fist glimpses of each model, the shape of each cardigan, the make up of every look. It’s the magic of the English Rose petals!
