The Romantic Oscar de la Renta Show Steals The Audience’s Hearts

Ever since last month, when the news of John Galliano’s residency at Oscar de la Renta circled the globe, the entire fashion world has been excitedly looking forward to see the results of the collaboration between two of the world’s most talented designers, as well as the way in which the classic elegance of de la Renta’s creations will juxtapose with Galliano’s flamboyant vision for which he is known and appreciated.

Oscar de la Renta’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection has proven that the styles of the two designers complement each other in an absolutely perfect way. Galliano’s participation in the creative process was visible in the opening looks – jackets with draped collars and accentuated waists, reminiscent of Christian Dior’s famous Bar silhouette, while de la Renta’s classic style was visible in the suave organza dresses with ample silhouettes and floral embroidery, the mysterious yet romantic outfits featuring capes over leather pants, the evening gowns with glimmering bead appliqués and the finale looks – two jewel-toned ballgowns with full A-line skirts, in pink and purple, with gold bullion embroidery, that stole the show, as well as the audience’s hearts.
