The Future Of Fashion: Light Dresses

Tired of velvet, chiffon, lace and even silk? How about a dress made of…light?

London-based artist Atton Conrad is creating the future of fashion, in the form of garments made entirely out of light (or, more specifically, photons, as reported by io9.com, which originally featured the breathtaking dresses).

Conrad used a technique that had already been used in the past to create “light painting”, that is, employing light trails, taking it a step further by developing his own methodology and custom designing what he calls “light brushes”, which give him control over light and texture, enabling him to create unique designs.

Though not wearable in a real, physical sense, Conrad’s dresses are undeniably red-carpet worthy.

We can only hope that in the future, there will be a way to employ light for the use of creating such garments. Haute couture would escalate to whole new level if we could envelop our bodies in waves of light, wouldn’t it?

Are you ready to be illuminated?
