THE AESTHETICS OF GOTHIC IN THE DÉVASTÉE COLLECTION

Watch the Devastee Fall/Winter 2012-2013 show here:

Designers Ophelie Klere and Francois Alary have chosen to go, in their characteristic style, with a gothic theme, for next season.

Tiny comical ghosts and tombstones, looking like they’ve crawled out straight from children’s cartoons were printed on the clothes, which were mostly made of dark fabrics. The cocoon-silhouettes softened the grim atmosphere which could have taken over the show due to the illustrations, bringing a touch of freshness and innovation.

The whole ensemble was completed by ingenious makeup, in the form of an exaggerated contour of the lips, towards the middle of the cheeks. A less invasive alternative to Botox. Anyone interested?
