Tadashi Shoji’s Fall/Winter 2013/14 Collection Is Fit For A Modern Czarina

For his Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection, designer Tadashi Shoji drew his inspiration from the far-away lands of Russia, borrowing elements from its culture, history and literature to create a collection of royal elegance, fit for a modern czarina.

Shoji experimented with a fabric that’s more and more frequently seen on the runways nowadays, and that is neoprene, which he refined by layering delicate lace all over it. Precious velvet dresses with ample silhouettes, fit for a royal figure, were alternated with the lace looks. Prints inspired by the traditional Russian wear embellished a series of outfits, while others were adorned with noble accents, such as long sleeves crumpled at the shoulders and elegant ample collars.
