Sweet Pastel Tones In Roksanda Ilincic’s F/W 2013 Show

The first part of Roksanda Ilincic’s Fall/Winter 2013 show was dominated by silhouettes in powdered tones of pink, mint and peach, highlighting the designer’s wish to break tradition by infusing a dose of spring freshness in a collection meant for the cold season. ”It’s a breath of fresh, spring air in winter. I wanted to do something very pure, gracious, and simple.” she declared for reporters in the backstage of her show.

The girlish air of the silhouettes in sweet pastel tones was toned down by the use of technically treated fabrics, such as coated lace, laminated wool, and pearlised PVC which were paired with soft, elegant fabrics to create surprising texture mixes – PVC coats with taffeta inserts in the back and satin dresses with oversize fur collars.

The second part of the presentation brought to attention a darker tone, in deep shades of black and burgundy, with elegant silhouettes in the form of Ffities-style dresses and skirts with hems below the knee. The show culminated with a series of romantic evening dresses in the same innocent shade of pink from the beginning, for an effect of ultimate femininity.
