Sugar can make you older, faster

Sugar contributes to weight gain and health problems, but also to accelerate aging. Researchers in the Netherlands and England asked 60 people to estimate the age of 602 volunteers based on their facial photographs.

After taking in consideration their actual age, if they smoke or not, the sun damage and their weight, researchers discovered that people with the highest blood sugar levels appeared older than those with the lowest levels. This is due to the fact that it was demonstrated high blood-sugar levels can destroy the skin’s collagen and elastin.

Scientists suggest that if we want to stay young more, we should maintain a healthy weight, exercise and consume less sugar and refined carbohydrates, which are rapidly transformed in glucose in our bodies.
