Structured Silhouettes With A Touch Of Romanticism In Gareth Pugh’s Fall/Winter 2013 Collection

The graphic, linear silhouettes, a signature element of Gareth Pugh’s aesthetic, were doubled in his Fall/Winter 2013 collection by a dose of sensibility.

Rigid, carefully structured silhouettes, fashion out of heavy fabrics, such as the statement coats with accentuated shoulders and elongated necklines with exaggerated proportions, that frame the upper body, were paired with long, ample skirts of Victorian inspiration, for a romantic effect.

Straight-cut silhouettes were sweetened as well, with the help of subtle embroideries with metallic thread, and the chromatic palette included, for the first time, an intense shade of deep blue, alongside tones of black, white and gray, which usually are the only colours used in Pugh’s collections.

For nigthtime, the designer brought out his trademark silhouettes with exaggerated proportions and futuristic vibe, which were this time around fashioned out of plastic, transformed into extravagant dresses, featuring thousands and thousands of minuscule frills that fluttered with every move of the body.
