Stella McCartney Tops Google’s Zeitgeist List; Chanel & Joseph Named Most Loved Brands In The UK

Stella McCartney Special Presentation - LFW Autumn/Winter 2012

According to an annual study regarding the most researched keywords on the Internet, Stella McCartney tops Google’s Zeitgeist List for 2012. The British designer, who created the English Olympic Team’s kit, also received another prestigious honour this year – the British Fashion Awards’ Designer Of The Year.

McCartney is closely followed in the Google Zeitgeist List by Karl Lagerfeld, coming in at number two in the top, Victoria’s Secret, at number three, and Alice Temperley and Versace on the fourth and fifth positions. The following five positions feature, in this order, Mulberry, Marks & Spencer, Ossie Clark, Burberry and LK Bennett. The Google Zeitgeist List is published at the end of every year and measures the fastest-growing searches conducted by British Internet users over the last 12 months.

And since the British are not only talented and creative, but also extremely methodical, the Google List isn’t the only study that they’ve made. In a research conducted by the Dressipi website, ran by Sir Stuart Rose, the former chief of Marks & Spencer, Chanel and Joseph are tied for the number one spot in a top featuring women’s favourite designer brands for 2012.

The study, for which 40, 000 women within the UK were surveyed, places the two high-end labels on the top spot, with 9% votes, next to DKNY on second place (8%) and Alexander McQueen on third place (5%).
