Statement Looks In The Comme des Garçons F/W 2013 Collection

Defying common fashion rules, as usual, in order to reinvent classic pieces in her own unique way, Rei Kawakubo sent out onto the Comme des Garçons Fall/Winter 2013 runway, a collection of truly statement-making outfits.

Silhouettes that are typically masculine, were manipulated in various ways – blown up, knotted, draped or pleated – to give birth to architectural looks with a surprisingly feminine allure.

Houndstooth was sweetened by being twisted and turned to form oversize fabric flowers, the masculinity of the puppytooth print was toned down by multiple cuts which created a boost of volume, while checks were made more feminine thanks to intricately calculated drapings.

The show’s final looks preserved the architectural tone, but brought a dose of freshness to the entire collection, in a frenzy of patterns and vibrant colours.
