Schiaparelli opened a new couture salon

Even if they don’t have a designer yet, Schiaparelli house seems to make things going for the launch of its first collection, due in February 2013. For the moment, they opened a new couture salon yesterday, at 21 Place Vendôme in Paris, Schiaparelli’s original location until the house shuttered in 1954. This opulent apartment is actually the same place that Elsa Schiaparelli showed her collections in the Thirties.

The place where the VIP clients will come for fittings boasts a colorful interior, an alligator-shaped bench, a lobster-shaped chest of drawers and sculptures by Salvador Dalí. The label’s spokeman, Farida Khelfa, and CEO Camilla Schiavone, inaugurated the space with a cocktail party, attended by guests like Carine Roitfeld, Karl Lagerfeld, Haider Ackermann  and Sharon Stone.

Elsa Schiaparelli was one of the most famous couturiers of the 20th Century. She began her business in Paris, in 1927, and became best known for her collaborations with the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. She is also very famous for her original creations, like the Shoe hat and the Lobster dress.
