Rebecca Minkoff’s New Bag Named After Bryanboy’s Grandmother

It’s not at all uncommon in the fashion world for a bag to be named by its creator after a celebrity. Think, for instance, about the famous Stam bag, named by Marc Jacobs after supermodel Jessica Stam, the Giselle by Luella bag, named after supermodel Giselle Bündchen, the Greta by Bally, after Greta Garbo, the Mulberry Del Ray and Alexa bags, named after singer Lana Del Rey and supermodel Alexa Chung respectively, the Sofia by Salvatore Ferragamo, after Sofia Loren, the Lady Dior bag, inspired by Princess Diana’s royal title, the Hermès Kelly, named after Grace Kelly, and of course, the iconic and much-coveted Hermès Birkin, named after actress Jane Birkin.

The honour of having a bag named after you is of course grand, but designer Rebecca Minkoff has found an even more ingenious way of surprising one of her best friends, blogger Bryanboy, naming her new bag not after him, but.after… his grandmother.

The new Elle bag by Rebecca Minkoff, inspired by Bryanboy’s grandmother Eleonora’s name, is part of the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection, and is already on fashionistas’ everywhere must-haves lists.
