Be The One To Wear The Pants In The Family. Learn How.

- /X17online.com

Trousers are one of the most unforgiving fashion items. Wear the incorrect style for your body type and you’ll end up highlighting each and every imperfection that you want camouflaged, not accentuated. Choose the right style, however, and the result will be absolutely sensational. Learn how to do this – Be the one to wear the pants in the family!

If you are petite

 petite

>> Avoid wide-leg trousers, such as palazzo styles, which will accentuate your short stature.

>> Choose slim fit styles, which will make your legs appear longer.

>> Avoid 3/4 styles that optically ”cut” your legs.

>> Bright colours are also ideal for making you seem taller, highlighting your legs.

>> Avoid big prints and go instead for small or medium-sized ones.

>> For an extra boost of height, wear footwear in the same colour as your trousers. This little trick will make your legs look interminable.

>> A high waist will also make you appear taller.

If you are tall

 tall

>> Wide-leg trousers, such as a palazzo style, will look stunning on you.

>> For maximum impact, make sure the hemline of your trousers falls no higher than a centimetre off the gound.

>> If you don’t have lean, slim legs, go for a straight cut.

>> If you’re lucky enough to be both tall as well as blessed with slim legs, you can experiment with any shapes, colours and textures. Feel free to rock statement prints and bold colours.

If you have a curvy silhouette

 curvy

>> A pair of slightly flared trousers will balance out a rather prominent derrière or hip area.

>> Menswear-inspired styles which feature a vertical line along the front of each leg, will make your legs appear skinnier.

>> Same goes for vertical stripe prints.

>> Make sure that your trousers aren’t too tight around the abdomen or hip area, but also ensure that they are neither too loose. Both styles will highlight the exact areas which you want camouflaged.

>> Avoid skinny trousers, as well as palazzo styles. (The first will over-accentuate a pear-shaped body, while the latter will drown the silhouette in too much fabric.)

>> As you surely already know, dark colours can do wonders when it comes to optically slimming the figure.

>> Avoid any embellishments around the hip area.

If you have an androgynous silhouette

boyish

>> Create the appearance of an hourglass silhouette by accessorising your trousers with a belt.

>> Trousers that are neither too slim, nor too loose, will look stunning on you, paired with a top that’s tucked in.

>> A tapered style will add a boost of volume around the hips.

>> Texturised fabrics, such as brocade, tweed or velvet, create the illusion of a more voluptuous silhouette.

>> Go for prints and bold colours, which will draw attention onto your legs.

>> Lateral zippers and any embellishments around the hip area will create the illusion of curves.
