Nicola Formichetti Appointed Artistic Director For Diesel

Nicola Formichetti has always been one of my favourite fashion people – after all, it takes quite a bit of imagination to dress Lady Gaga, doesn’t it?

My joy when I found out that after two years during which I was able to admire his beautiful creations for the house of Mugler, Formichetti is now transferring his creative power towards Diesel, was, thus, impossible to measure.

The new brand aesthetic that the young designer aims to infuse to Diesel will debut for the public’s eyes next spring, when the Fall/Winter 2014 collection will be shown, but come September, we’ll be able to get a sneak peek of Formichetti’s vision when the new Diesel ad campaign will be unveiled.

According to a statement released by Renzo Rosso (the founder of Diesel) via WWD, Formichetti will be responsible for a ”total view” of the brand, which includes product supervision, communication, marketing and interior design. Moreover, Rosso has stated that he’d like Formichetti to expand the label, known for its edgy prêt-à-porter creations, into couture. “I finally met somebody as crazy as I am.”, said Rosso.

I, for one, can’t wait to see the new Diesel Fall/Winter 2014 collection. How about you?

Until then, I’m stuck admiring the latest Diesel collection and watching the super-fun clip featuring Renzo Rosso & Nicola Formichetti, which you can enjoy as well, right here:
