Muse – the rose, fragrance – Dolce Rosa Excelsa

A fragrance dedicated to the rose was, virtually, written in the creative destiny of Dolce & Gabbana.
The rose, maybe the most symbolic and beloved flower, has found, over the years, numerous incarnations in the Italian House’s collections. Its heritage quality when it comes to the Mediterranean esthetic in general and Sicilian in particular doubled by the references to emotions, love and mystery that it encapsulates have earned it a leading role in the styling of prêt-à-porter and alta moda collections alike.

And now the time has come for the tradition of the Dolce & Gabbana rose to become embodied by an essence – by a perfume: Dolce Rosa Excelsa.

The new fragrance in the Dolce floral series, intertwines, as it is often the case with avatars of famous concepts, the classic with the revolutionary new. So, Rosa Excelsa blends, against a backdrop of musk, cashmeran and sandalwood, the precious perfume of the Turkish Rose Absolute with, for the first time in perfumery, that of the African Dog Rose.

Next to the iconic character that seems to already be underlying the debut of the Dolce Rosa Excelsa, the fragrance also brings to the forefront the iconography brought together for the making of Dolce Rosa Excelsa The Film – the perfume’s image campaign.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have given the artistic reigns of the short movie telling Rosa Excelsa’s story to the golden generation of Italian cinematography: leading lady – Sophia Loren, director – Giuseppe Tornatore, soundtrack – Ennio Morricone.

Rosa Excelsa is a truly spectacular fragrance and part of this character is its very magnetic personality. But in order to be able to fully grasp and feel it against your skin, you have to watch the story told by Sophia Loren and, of course, try the new Dolce Rosa Excelsa.
