Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week x Naomi Campbell – Fashion for Relief Ebola Fund

If it was time for someone to use Fashion Weeks and Valentine’s Day as a pretext for a humanitarian gala, then that someone had to be Naomi Campbell!

Saturday, February 14, at New York’s Lincoln Center and as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s complementary agenda, the international supermodel and part of her fashion and otherwise friends, together with the attendees having made the available places quickly sell out, did just that. Had their celebrity and generosity, fashion as well, working in order to raise money for the Ebola Survival Fund. A partnership of development organisations working closely with members or representatives of the affected communities in Liberia and Sierra Leone, counting on the support the sums – from previous years’ experience – of millions of dollars Fashion for Relief usually manages to pool.

Over the last 9 years, Naomi Campbell’s initiative saw the organisation of 12 events in New York, London, Cannes, Dar es Salaam or Mumbai benefiting organisations – UNICEF, the Red Cross, The Prince’s Trust (UK), Crown (Russia) – and causes of the most diverse: helping the victims of hurricane Katrina, those of the earthquake in Haiti or the Japan tsunami.

This year, the creations out for after podium auction sale have been signed by Diane von Fürstenberg, Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Emilio Pucci, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Calvin Klein and Thom Browne, while among the star-models were Mary J Blige, Kelly Osbourne, Michelle Rodriguez, Paris Hilton, Rosario Dawson and Tyson Beckford.
