Mary Katrantzou, BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund laureate 2015

Designer Mary Katrantzou has been designated winner of the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. Recognised for the strong identity and individuality if her brand, as well as for her capacity to fully materialize the dimensions of the prize – customized support and mentorship for one year and a £ 200 000 grant – in the clear direction of the development and growth of the Mary Katrantzou name and business, she got the full appreciation of the Fund’s committee.

“A huge congratulations goes to Mary who has deservedly received this year’s BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. As anyone who has met her knows, she is a tireless worker, has an abundance of creativity and has grown from being one of London Fashion Week’s must-see emerging talents, to one of the world’s most talked about designers. It really is a pleasure working with Mary and we are thrilled that we are able to support her business at an exciting time of growth.” commented Caroline Rush, Chief Executive British Fashion Council.

Chair of the Fund is Alexandra Shulman, Editor British Vogue, while the Judging Committee is also made up of Caroline Rush, for British Fashion Council and representatives of the industry entities supporting BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund – No.14 Savile Row, Topshop, Browns, Burberry, Farfetch/Victoria Beckham, as well as Naomi Campbell.

The evening at the Hotel Café Royal attended by, among others, Christopher Bailey (Burberry) or Imran Amed (Business of Fashion), was a real celebration of the British fashion industry scene – of these year’s nominees: Emilia Wickstead, Holly Fulton, Michael van der Ham, Mother of Pearl, Osman, Sophia Webster and, of course, the winner.

Among the previous laureates of the Fund are Erdem, Jonathan Saunders and Christopher Kane.
