Luxurious Romanticism In The Dior Haute Couture Spring 2013 Show

Raf Simons, Dior’s creative director, accelerated the arrival of spring this season, through his Haute Couture show for the French label. The runway was flooded with diaphanous silhouettes with fluid lines and romantic draping, in a chromatic palette that screamed of joyfulness and optimism.

Inspired by both Simons’ and the founder of the house himself, Monsieur Dior’s passion for luxurious flower gardens, each piece from the collection was given a special treatment in order to perfectly render the innocence and beauty of spring blossoms onto the precious fabric. Trompe l’oeil prints, minute embroidery and delicate beading, all handcrafted inside the Dior ateliers, embellished each outfit.

Simons also offered the collection an air of modernism through the play upon textures and layerings, as well as via the apparition on the runway of a couple of elegant trousers, which were perfectly incorporated into the romantic décor.
