Jean Paul Lespagnard Brings The Belgian Carnival Of Binche To Paris Fashion Week

For the Spring/Summer 2013 season, Jean Paul Lespagnard established two elements as his base points: the reinvention of polka dots, along with the exploration of the beauty of the Belgian Carnival of Binche.

The rustic accessories – straw hats and flat-soled sandals, completed the looks: dresses, jumpsuits and high-waist pants with an apparent polka dot print, which at a closer look are revealed to actually be tiny oranges, representing the carnival’s tradition of throwing the juicy fruits at one another, various looks printed with folkloric motifs, reminiscent of Belgian scarf prints, or with lion and crown prints, a symbol of the Binche festivities.

With its surprising trompe l’œil effects and playful accents, Jean Paul Lespagnard’s collection is sure to bring a cheery tone to fashionistas’ wardrobes, come spring.
