Infiltrated Spies In Balenciaga’s Fall Show

In the corporate décor of the 27th story of a Paris sky skraper, Nicholas Ghesquière imagined for the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 season, the Balenciaga Inc. Collection, with an all-female employee cast and a vintage 70s’ allure.

There were VPs, a Legal Department, interns, IT girls and even infiltrated spies.

Silhouettes with exaggerated proportions, like the sculpted, pointy shoulders, the voluminous sweaters paired with A-line double panel skirts or a series of loose pants came together with feminine pieces, like a couple of strapless dresses, perfect for day-to-night transition.

The entire collection had precise cuts, a usual thing for Ghesquière. The chromatic palette included white, mint, injections of hot pink and blue, but also some darker tones of moss-green and gray.

Jumpsuits in parachute-like fabrics, gold lamé appliqués on the chests and sleeves of dresses, graphic print chemises and sweatshirts with messages like « Out of the blue »or « Join a weird trip » created a series of powerful looks.

Dressing his « staff members » in innovative designs, Ghesquière has managed to strengthen his position, both within the whimsical Balenciaga Inc. Company and in the real fashion world. A true CEO of style.
