If every child could read, 171 million among them could be lifted out of poverty

! 61 million children, worldwide, have no access to primary education

! 100 million girls, worldwide, do not finish their primary studies

! over 200 million children, worldwide, have no access to secondary education

! in Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Niger and Yemen girls attend school, in general, for less than a year

! in Sub-Saharan Africa 4 out of 5 women have absolutely no education

! Pakistan, with 50%, has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. For girls, the numbers are at 35%, while for boys, 62%. If a girl is living in a rural area, her chances of finishing primary school are 3 times smaller than those of a boy in the same area.

! the lack of education or under schooling of girls, studies have shown, engenders negative correlations with the chances or rising out of poverty for the family they come from, those of survival of their own children, a better population health, the decrease in unemployment, fighting disease, agricultural productivity, the level of GDP, the stemming out of female genital mutilation and the level of female representation in parliament
