Hypnotic Elegance In Giorgio Armani’s Show

Giorgio Armani‘s show for his Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection was described by the designer himself as being „easy chic” – showcasing an effortlessly sophisticated look.

“The modern woman loves to dress in androgynous and masculine clothes, yet she doesn’t want to sacrifice feminine subtlety and lightness”, these are the thoughts of the Italian designer.

The runway show debuted with a series of menswear-inspired looks, reinterpreted with a seductive gangster edge, featuring models wearing wide-brimmed fedoras perched at an angle on their heads.

The surprise came in the form of neon pink, raspberry and orange accents – unusual colours for the designer’s usual classic palette. The shocks of colour made their appearance both on the garments (think tunic-style tops) and on accessories (think faux-fur stoles draped around the models’ necks and shoulders).

After showcasing the menswear-inspired looks, the show switched pace, bringing to attention A-line skirts, dresses and feminine coats, followed by a series of shimmery evening gowns, handcrafted entirely out of beads and sequins.

Although Giorgio Armani’s collection for the next season benefited form an input of chromatic innovation, the classic elegance of the looks, maintained throughout decades, has remained unharmed. Just like Giorgio Armani remains on the podium. The podium of the world’s best designers.
