March 13, 2012

An unexpected message on Twitter raced up my heart as if I had swallowed 5 or 6 cups of Turkish coffee.

Yes, it did! That’s how strong the effect was because the news is absolutely wonderful and it comes straight from the Kingdom of Fashion!

HARRODS, the world’s most exclusive department store announced that Fashion avec Passion will be Harrods Blog of the Week!

It is for the first time that a Romanian fashion blog is crowned with international appreciation by such elitist public targeting high-end fashion and the luxury industry.

I was suddenly overwhelmed with a strong sense of mixed delight and gratitude because Harrods, not only that it is the most famous department store ever, but it is also my favourite destination when it comes to spoiled shopping. And this is because Harrods seduces us each and every season with most sensational brands: YSL, Prada, Etro, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Hermes and the list may go on forever.

So, to cut a long story short, during 12.03.2012 – 19.03.2012, we will be the Harrods Blog!!!

I really love the sound of it!

Harrods London, thank you!

Fashion avec Passion is more than honoured. It is in seventh heaven!

If case you were not in the know, the Harrods store based in London is part of the Harrods conglomerate, a financial empire including Harrods Bank, Harrods Estates, Harrods Aviation and Air Harrods. It is a business worth more than EUR 757 M according to the reports dated 2010, the year Mohamed Al-Fayed sold the store to Qatar Holdings for one and a half billion pounds.

Harrods occupies a 90,000 sqm area and has over 300 sales departments. It employs more than 5,000 workers from over 50 different countries.

The store offers a wide range of products and services: luxury clothes and accessories for women, men, children, jewelry, sports gear, toys, fine beverages and beauty items, customized services for gift packaging, state of the art electronic gadgets, furniture shown at international showrooms and a great many other products which make a personal visit, be it even a sort of “museum visit”, worthwhile.

Harrods’ offer includes 32 restaurants serving everything, from tea (luxury tea, of course) to haute cuisine. All you need is to make a simple appointment to have your own personal shopping assistant guide you into the hypnotizing world of Milan, Paris, NY or London fashion, an all-in-one concept.

Practically speaking, I would not mind to be locked up inside Harrods! The shopping gallery offers watch repair, tailor, pharmacy, beauty spa and salon services, but also Harrods financial services or events planning, catering or wine steward/sommelier services.

And to turn a visit to Harrods into an unparalleled pampering, Harrods lures you with bespoke cakes looking and tasting to your heart’s desire and even with perfume concepts made to order on the spot.

There’s no surprise that up to 300,000 customers visit the shop every day.

As of October 15, 2009, Harrods Bank has started selling gold bars and coins that customers can buy “off the shelf”. The gold products range from 1 g to 12.5 kg can be purchased within Harrods Bank. They also offer storage services as well as the possibility to sell the gold back to Harrods in the future.

There are so many things to be said about the London shopping paradise that the best “deal” you can ever cut is to actually be one of the 300,000 customers. But till you get to Harrods, an easy and equally “fashionable” way is the online shopping.

I have planned a trip to London in April. And I can tell here and now that once I’ve got past the airport, my first stop will undoubtedly be 87–135 Brompton Road Knightsbridge, the address of the store where I hope to come from with a Janina Nectara fragrance made at Harrods. I can hardly wait!

Once again: Harrods, thank you so much!
