From Romania with love – Sonia Rykiel

Every time I receive an invitation to the Sonia Rykiel fashion show, I’m in the seventh heaven.

I’ve felt attracted by the Rykiel style from my very first fashion magazines.

This season, when Paris Fshion Week was about to start, I discovered on Wikipedia one more reason to get closer and embrace her designs with even more aplomb. I found out that Rykiel is half Romanian – Polish mother and Romanian father. Isn’t it wonderful?

Having my invitation in one hand and my Mango bracelets on the other, I took my place in L’Espace Ephemere (Jardin des Tuilleries), the venue of the runway. Luckily, I was ranked in the oposite area where Sonia Rykiel was seated. Now that her daughter, Nathalie Rykiel, was named the new creative director of the brand, madame Rykiel attends her own brand’s fashion shows as a first row spectator.

All that being said, while I was waiting for the defilé to begin, I fed my curiousity and tried to find among Rykiel’s French charm, fragments of Romanian features.
