Fashionable Readings: The Gucci Comic Book & The Mr. Porter Style Manual

Looking for a fashionable reading? Don’t miss the latest literary releases, signed by a couple of heavy names in the fashion industry – Frida Giannini (creative director for Gucci) and Mr. Porter (luxury e-tailer for men’s fashion).

Gucci’s Frida Giannini joins the ascending trend of fashion comic books (designer Philip Lim has also released a comic book of his own), with a creation done in collaboration with Japanese Manga artist Hirohiko Araki.

Inspired by the colour of the Gucci Cruise 2013 collection, the comic book follows the story of Jolyne Cujoh, a student who inherits a piece from her mother’s Gucci collection. “This has without doubt been one of the most enjoyable collaborations I have worked on. The characters that Hirohiko has conceived combine an energy, sensuality and appeal that brings my Cruise collection to life in such a fun and compelling way. I am quite sure his window installations will stop people in their tracks in cities around the world as they immerse themselves in the fabulous fantasy world he has created.”, said Giannini.

The comic book can be seen in the window displays of more than 70 Gucci stores worldwide, as well as the Gucci Facebook page.

Mr. Porter, the brother-website to luxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter, which focuses on men’s fashion, has launched The MR PORTER Paperback: The Manual for a Stylish Life Volume One, a manual aimed to teach modern men a series of tips & tricks for leading a stylish life. The book features style lessons on clothing, design, fine drinks and cars, coverage on some of the world’s most stylish men, as well as a series of advice for delicate situations, such as developing a relationship with the in-laws or dancing at a party.

The perfect gift for your man, the Mr. Porter manual is currently available online for the price of $35, and starting mid-January, will also be available for purchase in stores such as J.Crew, Acne, Saturday Surf NYC or Colette.
