Video: Everything Is More Fun In The Dark: Glow In The Dark Fashion

If you, like me, happen to be a child of the Nineties, you surely remember the Glow In The dark craze. From the fluorescent solar system that you could stick to the ceiling (to the dismay of your parents), to stickers and fun surprises from chocolate eggs, everything was cooler in the dark. Even if you were a teenager at the time, you still may remember things like T-shirts with fluo prints or the rubber bracelets that everybody seemed to collect on their wrists by the dozens.

Now that the Nineties generation has grown up into avid fashionistas, designers have come up with more stylish ways for us to literally…glow in the dark.

If you’re the sporty type, you’ve probably already tried on Stella McCartney’s collection for Adidas launched back in 2010, which included hoodies, shorts and sneakers embellished with fluorescent animal print, but now, you may add to the sportswear corner of your wardrobe a few new items: Converse proposes the classic Chuck Taylor sneakers and the original Half Stack sunglasses in super-cool Glow In The Dark versions.

If you’re going for a more urban approach, look no further that the amazing Hudson jeans. The Loulou jeans, inspired by Loulou de la Falaise, Yves Saint Laurent’s muse, with their cropped skinny silhouette and fluorescent strips, will make you shine even in the darkest corner of the night club.

Still craving a neon glow? Bring the atmosphere of Nineties rave parties into the bedroom with House of Holland’s Glow In The Dark lingerie. You have plenty to choose from: hipster briefs, bras and babydolls, and even boxer shorts for your man.

For the current season, Alexander Wang, fashion’s l’enfant terrible, proposes what seems to be the most stylish version of Glow In The Dark fashion – from purses and T-strap sandals to an ultra-chic dress featuring fluorescent seams, which guarantees that all eyes will be on you.

All of this only stands to demonstrate that I was right all my life: Everything is more fun in the dark!
