I don’t know if Elie Saab managed to sneak into Ali Baba’s secret cave or if he managed to rob the safecontaining the Crown Jewels, but his signature Haute Couture collection for the Fall 2013 season brought out on the runway an infinite cascade of jewel-like sparkles.
Stunning floor-length dresses suavely draped or expertly cut to envelop the feminine silhouette, all fashioned out of mousseline, silk or satin, were given the royal treatment by being embroided with thousands and thousands of beads, sequins and crystals, so rich of an embroidery, that it’s bound to light up even the darkest of rooms. Even the chromatic palette chosen by the designer mirrored the colours of precious jewels. Ruby red, emerald green and amethyst blue silhouettes created a truly exceptional visual impact – an opulent parade of luxury and femininity, put together in the most romantic of manners, in a way in which only Elie Saab can.
