Why is it that every Dolce & Gabbana runway seems to be have been stripped straight from the pages of a fairytale? It probably usually is a mere side effect of the Italian duo’s vision – both grand and enchantedly fascinated by details. But for fall-winter 2014/2015, the dream-like story worthy of a Sleeping Beauty swooned by Tchaikovsky descended from fantasy straight onto the catwalk!
’’Every woman wants to be a fairy.’’ say Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, and fairies, it seems, wear Dolce & Gabbana exclusively! High-waisted dresses, reminiscent of the romantic silhouettes of tower-locked maidens, ethereally swooshed above the floors, fur trimmed coats looked like from a Winter Wonderland Princess illustration, while the collection’s dazzling accessories – boots, bags and, above all, its helms – were borrowed from the armour of a knight no longer needed to come save them.
Then, finally, tying it all into a happy ending, even the House’s typical alla Siciliana black dresses got some of the magical flair of jewel encrusted storybook appliqués.
