Disney Characters Head Over To Barneys For The Holidays

Move over, Disney princesses, a new wave of characters have captured the hearts of designers this season – and it’s none other than the legendary Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Daisy Duck!

For starters, the delightful Minnie will be the center of attention during London Fashion Week, being granted the huge honour of having an entire show dedicated to her and her famous style. Designers including Richard Nicoll, Michael van der Ham, Piers Atkinson, Bunney, Husam el Odeh in collaboration with Luke Hersheson, Katie Hillier, Lulu Guinness, Tatty Devine and Terry de Havilland will unveil a collection of accessories and garments, entitled “Minnie Mouse Must Haves”, inspired by the character’s famous dotted dress, her big, round ears and her oversize bow.

After that, Minnie will reunite with the whole gand and head over to luxury department store Barneys, to be part of the holiday window display. But the beloved Disney characters will be leaving their well-known outfits home, donning instead the creations of famous designers. Minnie (in Lanvin), Daisy (in Dolce & Gabbana) and Goofy (in Balmain) will be joined by Cruella de Vil (in Rick Owens), Princess Tiana (in Proenza Schouler) and Snow White (in Nina Ricci), as part of Barneys’ annual tradition of creating special display windows to celebrate the upcoming holiday season.

The “Electric Holiday” campaign will also feature a video in which the iconic characters will be seen strutting down the runways of Fashion Week with svelte, almost unrecognisable figures, dressed by designers, who, in turn, will be digitally transformed into Disney characters.

Having said this, make sure that you don’t miss the whimsical Barneys window display this upcoming festive season. You will get to enjoy fabulous designer creations along with your favourite childhood characters and even purchase Disney-themed designer items from inside the store.
