Dark Romance: Gareth Pugh’s S/S 2013 Show At PFW

Using his usual chromatic palette of black, white and shades of nude and beige, to which an intense hue of red was added for the upcoming Spring season, London-based designer Gareth Pugh presented an elegant collection, with a dash of romanticism, during the second day of Paris Fashion Week.

Long dresses with fluid silhouettes, outfits made up of trousers and blouses with flared sleeves, reminiscent of feathers, paired with high-heeled shoes with spikes, resembling claws, (given that the designer drew inspiration from the ritual of cock fighting), oversize headpieces inspired by the violent beauty of the flamenco dance, and looks inspired by traditional Japanese outfits, all came together to form a collection that celebrated the powerful, confident woman, who isn’t afraid of showcasing her darker side, without losing any bit of her femininity.
