Chanel Fall/Winter 2013: A Game Of Construction And Textures

Karl Lagerfeld’s vision for Chanel Fall/Winter 2013, came alive through a collection with a dark tone, punctuated by elegant sparkles.

Powerful silhouettes – coats featuring cutout fronts and knee-length backs, A-line dresses, coats created in such a manner that when worn buttoned up, offer the illusion of a skirt and jacket look, and double skirts with zippers that open from bottom to top to reveal another panel of fabric underneath the first – dominated the show.

Lagerfeld also accentuated the overall refinement of his collection for Chanel, through a complex game of textures, such as in the case of tweeds with subtle sparkles or covered in 3D fabric flower appliqués, as well as metallic thread knits or texturised pieces in luscious black latex.
