Catwalk crushes. DvF’s wrap dress at 40, more out there than ever!

What can more undisputedly be called ‘’catwalk love’’? What else but a piece that continues to reinvent itself without losing its ability to dazzle 40 years after its runway debut? The wrap dress, long since legendary and long since synonymous with its creator, Diane von Fürstenberg, maintains its appeal season after season. It brings ever new shapes and prints for its fierce admirers, while its feminine offensive is winning over fresh scores of wrap-style followers.

And the whimsical podium at Spring Studios in New York saw yesterday not only samples of the floral and geometrical motifs that will be lending next season’s playfulness, but also, if somebody thought it impossible, new interpretations of the fluid DvF staple: waist hugging tops or cross-shapes with the very wrap dress that resulted in kimonos matched with zigzagging trousers, often juxtaposing patterns to kaleidoscopic effects.

Like a playful smile from von Fürstenberg’s designs, next to the addictively happy mood of her models!
