What are my favourite elements of Stella McCartney spring-summer 2014? Well, they’re at least three and are, apparently, so distinct that the unity of the collection seems to be hosting three perfect worlds from a typically McCartney universe.
First there was colour. Be it enhancing the rounded shapes of a clean cut modern dress or the flow of a silk blouse, the burnt red going up to shades of chocolate offered simple yet luxurious depth.
Then there were textures. From the crocodile skin dressing up second skin jumpsuits to the crumpled effects on accessories, they brought volume and play to day and evening looks.
And then there was fluidity. Pant suits, silk or lace dresses had just the same delicacy of movement, the fabric faithfully following the one wearing it – just as the understanding of fashion and femininity characteristic of Stella McCartney, which is, in fact, my no 1 crush from the passionate S/S 2014 collection.
