Prada

Relaxed silhouettes – Hawaiian-inspired shirts, satin chemises, loose pants – adorned with prints that instantly bring to mind the image of a sunny vacation spot, were doubled by a dash of darkness, on the runway of the Prada Menswear S/S 2014 show. The saturated chromatic palette, with an almost vintage-like air, reminiscent of a fall collection, rather than suited for a spring one, is the manner in which Miuccia Prada has chosen to suggest the contrast between the beauty of exotic lands and the wild way in which they are destroyed precisely by the people who adamantly claim that they desire the perfect exotic vacation.

To even better highlight the masculine silhouettes, Miuccia used a clever trick: the male models stepped onto the runway in alternation with a series of female silhouettes, created especially for the Menswear show, but which will be available for purchase as part of the Prada Resort collection.

Roberto Cavalli

The key-element of the Roberto Cavalli Menswear S/S 2014 collection is the precise detail. If at first glance, the line-up of looks featuring shirts, blazers, jackets and trousers, only seems to suggest an elegant collection, upon closer inspection, the details are the ones that transform the collection into an epitome of refinement. Geometric patterns, kaleidoscopic motifs, Damascus prints, expertly applied embroidery, as well as precious textures, such as leather, satin or silk, gave birth to an exceptional collection with a distinctly royal allure.

.

Moschino

Overflowing optimism – this must surely be the best way of describing the Moschino Menswear Spring/Summer 2014 collection. A different type of colour blocking, not in the form of solid blocks of colour, but in the form of blocks of different prints, opened the show, setting the tone for a contagiously happy atmosphere. The prints continued to be a key-element of the collection, as they took hold of the runway in graphic versions, in the form of the label logo nonchalantly splashed onto shirts and T-shirts, or as renderings of thunderstorm lightnings on shirts, trousers or the lapels of blazers.

.

Fendi

The saturated chromatic palette in muted, almost autumnal shades, alongside a contrast between the slim-fit silhouettes and the oversize outerwear pieces, were the key-elements of the Fendi Menswear Spring/Summer 2014 collection, showcased in Milan. Precious accents, in the form of pieces rendered in shiny leather, were manipulated into casual-cool versions, providing an effortlessly stylish effect.

.

Marc Jacobs

Pastels punctuated by occasional flashes of cobalt blue or shocking orange, retro floral prints and a surprising contrast in the form of linen dinner jackets and cargo pants in pin-striped wool, alongside a set of glossy suits, made up an eclectic line-up, transforming Marc Jacobs‘ show for his signature Menswear line, into a trip down memory lane to retro Las Vegas.
