Azzedine Alaia Debuts In The Beauty Industry

Known for his carefully sculpted body-con dresses that hug the female silhouette in what is called ”second skin” – a most seductive manner of enhancing the body’s natural shape, as well as for his innate talent of creating discreet luxury, Tunisian couturier Azzedine Alaïa is, thanks to his prestigious empire that he has created throughout the last few decades, one of the most acclaimed and respected designers of his generation. To the delight of the admirers of Alaïa’s superbe silhouettes, the creator of the famous bandage dress, considered up to this day one of the most seductive and sensual items of clothing in the female wardrobe, will soon encapsulate his talent into…perfume bottles.

According to WWD, Alaïahas signed a beauty licence with Beauté Prestige International, the luxury label behind some of the other big designer perfumes out there, such as Narciso Rodriguez, Elie Saab, Issey Myake or Jean Paul Gaultier.

”Beauté Prestige International corresponds perfectly to the spirit of the Alaïa house. I am delighted to work with them in launching this new project. I have total confidence in Beauté Prestige International to accompany me in creating a perfume that interprets my work and my world.”, the designer told WWD.

Alaïa isn’t however the only designer to dabble in the beauty industry. During this year, hardcore fashionistas will be able to complement their designer looks with makeup to match, courtesy of the new Marc Jacobs Beauty, Christian Louboutin Beauté or limited edition Lancôme by Alber Elbaz beauty lines.
