Asia on covers and catwalks. Fei Fei Sun on the cover of Italian Vogue

It is the onset of the conquering of China by high end brands and the corresponding crystallisation of fashion exports from China itself that have pushed an array of associated activities and industries towards an increasingly visible upward evolution.

Beautiful Asian models have begun making their way on the world’s most important runways and receiving the acknowledgement they rightfully deserve.

The 2012 Elite Model Look final was held in Shanghai, and the Elite international agency has, since 2011, intensified its activities in China, willing to tap into the fashion houses’ desire to cater to their clients with image campaigns relevant to the region.

And it appears to be only a matter of time until the next Gisele or Naomi will be catwalk tiptoeing from the Orient.

Xi Ming has been in the presentations of Vivienne Westwood and Christian Dior and has already gained in prestige by shooting for Givenchy campaigns.

Juan Du was the first Asian model to have stared on the cover of Vogue France, in 2011.

Fei Fei Sun, having worked for Valentino or Calvin Klein, is on the January cover of the Italian Vogue.
