Aquilano.Rimondi S/S 2014, a runway between cultures

Aquilano.Rimondi SS14

Shape, colour, print, each element of the collection shown at Milan Fashion Week by Italian duo Aquilano.Rimondi is remarkable, dramatic, impacting. The mauve, the blue, the indigo or burgundy red are at their most piercing possible hues, all the brighter under the luxurious shimmer of silk.

And motifs and cuts traditional to the Maasai culture have been reinterpreted in a variety of shapes difficult to identify within the Western fashion vocabulary and yet so very ingenious, elegant and adaptable to a contemporary urban look.

The peak of this cosmopolite collection is, undoubtedly, the meeting of the Polynesian women in Gauguin’s famous paintings with the African muses of the, there you have it, Italian creations of Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi!
