Alberta Ferretti FW15 – Pretty in Renaissance

Princesses continue being the trend. So has touted Alberta Ferretti. And by the gilded-glamorous looks on her fall-winter catwalk, we are ready to, once more, surrender to this beautiful, evolved and renewed Catherine de Medici personae.

Luxurious would be most fitting to describe this collection, since on the podium there were no Middle Age castle-tower-prisoner princesses. But flamboyant Rennaisance heavily brocaded and weightlessly sheer veil-wearing ones. Titian and Veronese are mentioned as inspiration, and these and other masterful art references are seen throughout. On the velvet skirts, opulent fur waistcoats, beaded and embroidered dresses. Even on the lightest and most translucent among them.

What will make its way to our next fall wardrobe before anything else? A cape or two. And quite a few more variations – charcoal-black, block-colour camel, vine-sown reds – of those over-the-knee suede boots.
