3 mistakes to avoid when washing your hair

You may find washing your hair the least important part in styling your hair the way you like it, but in fact washing it properly can make a huge difference. Here are three of the common mistakes you need to avoid:

1. Not wetting your hair enough

Wetting your hair completely is very important. Don’t skip this detail, even if you’re busy and you need to wash it quickly. Dirt is much easier to clean if hair is soaked wet first, so the shampoo can penetrate better.

2. Shampooing the ends

Try to apply shampoo mostly on your roots, where oil is produced. The ends of the hair are the ones that dry faster, and shampooing them too hard will only accentuate the lack of moisture. On the other hand, put conditioner on your ends, and keep it away from the roots, not to get your hair greasy.

3. Not washing enough, or washing too often

Indeed, it is better not to wash your hair often, but this is not a rule. Depending on the type of hair and the activities you do, you can wash your hair once a week, or daily. If you normally exercise everyday and you do a lot of workout, you can wash it more often, but it is better to use a shampoo gentle enough for everyday use. Also, straight hair tends to become greasy faster than curly hair, which is usually drier.
