’’It is a dream for any designer to be stocked in 10 Corso Como.’’ says Christian Wijnants, the winner of last year’s prestigious international Woolmark design award. The recent cocktail in Milan, the Italian capital of fashion, has brought to the young Belgian designer the satisfaction of glory on European turf.
Yet, more than that, as part of the prize awarded to the laureate of the competition committed to supporting the future of the fashion industry and having recognized the innovativeness of his Merino collection, the name of Christian Wijnants is already known and distributed in Australia, thanks to David Jones in Sydney, and is to follow up with débuts at Harvey Nichols in London, Bergdorf Goodman in NY, Joyce, China and Eickhoff Königsallee, Germany.
A fantastic start is what the International Woolmark Prize provides for its winners, laureates for whose talent come to provide guarantees illustrious members of the jury – among which Donatella Versace, Diane von Furstenberg, Angela Missoni, Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang, Franca Sozzani, Godfrey Deeny or Scott Schuman – and who, as explained by Victoria Beckham, get to be introduced to the circuit of world successful designers. Of course, to the joy of the thirsty-for-new fashion consumers from around the globe.
